Simple Design Solution for Harsh Operating Conditions: Redesign of Conveyor Transfer Station with Reverse Engineering and DEM Simulations

This paper addresses the problem of conveyor transfer station design in harsh operating conditions, aiming to identify and eliminate a failure phenomenon which interrupts aggregate supply. The analyzed is located Polish granite quarry. study employs laser scanning reverse engineering methods map existing its geometry. Next, discrete element method (DEM) model has been created used for simulating current conditions. arch formation identified as main reason breakdowns. Alternative solutions stations were tested DEM simulations. most uncomplicated manufacturing incorporated an impact plate, straight chute selected best solution. also involved identifying areas new exposed wear phenomena. A point was implemented quarry resolved blockages.
